Virtual Tour of Flanders 2020
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been spending a lot more time on my indoor trainer since we entered the Covid-19 era.
Living in Los Angeles means its pretty important to follow the stay at home guidelines. Lots of people are still out riding but I’m in a higher risk category so I’m really trying to be good.
That said, I sorely miss watching the one-day classics in the evening while catching up on email and other stuff. But, lo and behold, along comes Zwift!
I’ve been a Zwift member for over two years but it only was my backup when I couldn’t get out on the road. Now Zwift’s virtual world has become my normal.
Yesterday I rode one of Geraint Thomas’s two-hour segments supporting Britain’s National Health Service. It was a challenge. I can’t imagine how challenging it is to ride 12 hours straight, three days in a row.
Here’s the link to Geraint’s event – https://zwift.com/events/series/geraint-thomas-nhs-zwift-shifts/ [BTW, I was pleasantly surprised that I did the full two hours and wasn’t all that sore afterward. Full disclosure, I watched Grand Tour re-runs after the peloton dropped me.]
But, back to the Tour de Flanders. It seems that a group of pros, including last year’s Tour of Flanders, just did a virtual Zwift race over the final 30 kilometers. Not actually live, but pretty cool nonetheless. Click on the image to the right.
Allez All!
